Each year, Matt says, “No party please” and each year, I never listen.  Although, I must admit, this year I really was contemplating about not doing anything.  In the end though, I just couldn’t help myself.

It was a surprise Harry Potter Themed Party in full effect – celebrating Matt and Kristen and all the other June babies!  Not to pat my own back, but I must say, the party turned out well for not setting aside enough time to plan and get everything ready!  I mean who works on EVERYTHING for the party 5 hours before it starts?  In my defense, it’s hard to do anything ahead of  time when the other half is always there and it’s supposed to be a surprise!

The Great Hall!

The Great Hall!

Anyways – we set up the great hall with hanging tea lights, had a DIY photobooth with HP props, balloon owls, chocolate frogs, favors shaped like brooms and a quaffle.  Unfortunately, I ran out of time to make the quidditch hoops, but the rest of the items came out great!  I must give thanks to my friend, Jenl, who came over in the afternoon to help me prepare everything.  Even though she kept scolding me non stop for procrastinating (that’s the  teacher in her), I never would have finished without her.  Sadly, I don’t have many photos of the decor, but just trust me when I say it was cool!

Birthday girl!

Birthday girl!

We had a whole line up of food, a keg of beer, a specially decorated cake and all of that shared with so many of our wonderful friends.  I’m thankful to all those who came and celebrated Matty’s birthday.  He is lucky to have all of you in his life and lucky to have me too to throw him parties that he does not want!  =)

Because whether he likes it or not, I must celebrate my hubby’s birthday to the fullest because I’m so happy and thankful that he was born!
