As you may recall just over two years ago, I became “mini zip min” and started working for FCH Enterprises, better known as Zippy’s!  Zip min is one of their famous dishes, but possibly the most famous is their chili!  OMG – I still love their chili!

Zippy's Chili Is. The. Best!

Zippy’s Chili Is. The. Best!

For over 2 years I have worked 7 days straight – with the exception of days I had to request off for important things like my wedding and the 3 week European honeymoon adventures and other side travels.  But for the most part, I was working 7 days a week.  Call me crazy!

Don’t worry, everyone always gave me a hard time about it telling me to quit and one of my friends even drafted up a petition haha.  I always had a reason though – first it was to make some extra cash for the wedding, then it was to save for our honeymoon AND then it became to save for our house!  The reasons were never-ending and I always wanted/needed extra cash because it helped!  But as my wise ol daddy says, “you cannot chase the money.”

Almost every morning, I woke up thinking “why am I still doing this”, but then I would truck along and once I got to work and started doing my daily tasks, time just flew by.  So it really wasn’t that bad and I ended early enough to still enjoy the rest of the day.  Although, when I say enjoy the day, I mostly took long afternoon naps haha.

Well, recently I had a light bulb moment followed by an executive decision and as such, Sunday October 5, 2014 was my last day at Zippy’s.  It was a sad moment since I did invest over 2 years of my time there, but I think now is the time for me to focus on myself, the house and our future.

Do what's best for me!

Do what’s best for me!

It is a bit nerve-racking though – this coming weekend will be my first weekend to not have to wake up for work.  My brain is running circles, frequented by thoughts such as, “oh no, I should find another PT job” “what will I do with all my time” “don’t party too hard just because you don’t have to work the next day” “does this mean I have to do house chores” “I hate cleaning” “I need to get a pet” and the thoughts go on and on and on.  It really is quite tiring!

BUT in the end, I made an executive decision for myself and it feels good.  So I will embrace my free time and be productive by working on the house, start training for the Honolulu Marathon in December and do all the things I enjoy such as spending more time with my nephew (who is soon to be one years old!!!), hiking and hanging out with friends.  Okay, to be honest one of those things are low priority and that is training for the marathon haha – saying and doing are two different things, but I will try my best to make it happen!

Make it happen!

Make it happen!

Cheers to having weekends FREE~~~
