As 2012 draws to a close, it seems the natural thing to do is to reflect upon the year – point out the ups and downs, as well as think of resolutions and goals for the upcoming year. This is not normally something I do, but since I have this website…I might as well release my thoughts and give it a try!

Last year at my Kaneohe girls dinner, we all went around the table and answered what was the best thing that happened in 2011. I answered, Matt passed his test and is now a PE! No, that does not stand for physical education, but professional engineer!

Kaneohe Girls

This year, hands down I would have to say the best thing that happened was that I got engaged to the best man on earth! It all happened on 2.28.12 and involved turtle pellets! Due to my womanly intuition, I knew he was up to something, but in the end it was a surprise and of course my answer was “YES”!!!!

Other memorable moments of 2012 include (but not limited to):

  1. Traveling to the East Coast for the first time ever and visiting New York!
  2. Attending a whopping 7 weddings! We are so happy for all our newlywed friends, one of which, was my big sister! (See my prior post “Weddings of 2012 Recap” for more details on each wedding!)
  3. Speaking of sister and weddings, I received the privilege of being her “maid of honor”! We had a last hurrah for her on Kauai and it was a blast! I tried not to cry when I made my speech, but how could I not! My big sister was getting married and I’m so proud and happy for her! Definitely the next memorable moment on my list after getting engaged
  4. Starting a new part-time job – although I am still in limbo if this is really memorable or just plain ol stupid! Working 7 days straight sure takes a toll on me, but I am proud to say that I have survived 7 months so far. I just have to keep telling myself this is for our wedding and I can do it all!

There were a couple of major obstacles that I had to overcome. The main one was losing my grandma the day after Fourth of July. But as much as I miss her, I know she is in a better place, reunited with my grandpa and always watching over us.  Her, along with my grandpa and other grandma, although not here physically are forever carried on in our hearts.  While I wish they could be there at our wedding, I know they are watching from above.

As I look towards 2013, there are so many GOOD things to come:

  1. Our wedding on 4.20.13
  2. Our honeymoon (which hopefully will be a month-long European dreamscape exploring Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain and since we’re there might as well hop on over to Ireland because I love the movie “P.S. I love You”)
  3. House hunting (crossing my fingers – I want a huge yard, gigantic kitchen and a nice deck to lounge on)
  4. New job opportunities

2012, it has been a great year, but I think 2013 will be EVEN BETTER!

May you all have a happy and safe New Years!

2013 here we come!!!!

Happy New Year 2013! Love, Mathy
